There we are - scaffolding a revolution.

This blog is really scaffolding. Scaffolding is a construction of temporary materials used to support people in the construction (or repair) of large structures. The structure in this case is the story of good ol’ entrepreneurship and the massive transformation that it is undergoing.

You see, in America we love the story of the comeback. And a comeback is exactly what the tarnished reputation of capitalism is about to make. And not just capitalism – capitalists, And that includes sales professionals, business professionals and most especially entrepreneurs. Why is this? Because 2010 is the year of the Spiral Entrepreneur. It’s the year that the rules of capitalism get rewritten. And the new rulebook is impressive, exciting and, perhaps surprisingly, altruistic.

On this blog I (and the community that develops here) will be building the scaffolding to support the blossoming ecology of Spiral Entrepreneurship along with all the awesome, passion filled, purposeful, world-changing ventures that spiral entrepreneurs are and will be involved in.

ACHTUNG BABY! Since I know a lot of you entrepreneurs and capitalists out there consider yourselves hardnosed realists let me put this all in terms you’ll understand. During 2010 you will have a limited opportunity to be an early adopter, breaking into a marketplace that is still relatively empty of the values of Spiral Entrepreneurs. For this you will receive accolades, respect, revenue and other successes. By 2011 that opportunity will be gone – Spiral Entrepreneurship will no longer be admired, it will be expected. By 2012 entrepreneurs that haven’t adopted the values and practices of Spiral Entrepreneurship will find themselves in a hostile environment, with business-killing results.

The message: play for the triple win. Either your entrepreneurial work benefits you, your customers and the system in which you’re playing – or your business fails.

And I don’t want that for you. That’s why I started this blog; Because this change is going to happen fast and you need the new rulebook in order to thrive. You need to be able to update your mental software fast enough to keep up with the technology that’s reshaping our world. If you know the mindset that is emerging you can ride this wave into a successful future of your choosing. And if you don’t you are going to be caught with your pants down.

So here’s the deal: I’m going to be blogging every day for one year – till the end of 2010 – in order to provide you the tools and resources you need to recognize and ride the wave of Spiral Entrepreneurship. Once that’s over, once you’re successfully living a life of purpose, once we’ve shepherded this transformation, this mission will be complete. But until January 1st of 2011, I’ll be twirling ideas right here every day. Are you ready to hop on the spiral?
